Diabetes Education

The Indian Health Board provides patient diabetes education through the respective Tribal Health Clinics. We employ two Registered Dietitians, both of whom have credentials as Certified Diabetic Educators. We also sponsor community events to raise awareness of diabetes, and promote healthy nutrition, and healthy lifestyle choices.

Healthy Heart Initiative
As a result of Special Diabetes Program for Indians funding from the Indian Health Service, we provide special services to reduce heart disease and strokes among Native people with diabetes. Our professional case managers are available to assist participants in this voluntary project. Services include:

Regular case management visits
Assistance for medical visits
Help with individual goal setting
Nutrition instruction
Encouragement and support
Heart health education
Physical activity instruction
Contact us through your Tribal clinic, or by our contact page for more information about participation.
